FBGS consists of two legal entities, one located in Belgium and the other located in Germany. The Belgium company FBGS International is a fully owned subsidiary of the German entity FBGS Technologies, which is controlled by a group of shareholders.  The main shareholders are:

Sylex is a designer and manufacturer of fiber optic passive products, with a strong focus on innovative solutions. Since July 2011 Sylex has manufactured their own fiber optic sensors and interrogators (read-out unit) typically used in Civil Engineering and Geotechnical markets.


Sylex sensing solutions are based on FBG fibers using unique DTG technology (Draw Tower Grating) for strain, temperature, displacement, pressure, load, vibration and soil deformation measurements.


Sylex is also a strategic partner of FBGS by providing engineering and manufacturing capabilities. 








Xenics is a leading developer of innovative infrared detection solutions for a wide range of applications. Xenics designs, manufactures and distributes infrared detectors and cameras, both line-scan and 2-D, covering the infrared wavelength ranges from 0.4 to 14 micrometers. In addition, Xenics delivers bespoke products based on customer specific specifications.

The Institute of Photonic Technology (IPHT) is a non-university research facility with an emphasis on application-oriented and innovative solutions in high technology physical systems. Embedded in the science campus Beutenberg the IPHT carries out R&D projects in the following areas: Photonic Instrumentation and - Optical Fibers and Fiber Applications.


The division of optical fiber and fiber application is highly specialised in the development of new sensor systems, which has already produced many highly innovative sensor solutions.


IPHT is also a strategic partner of FBGS for new DTG developments.
